Screen guide

Explorer

Shows an entity world in one column per Entity: in a Tenant, its records, its imported sheets before they are mapped, or its governance data; at the Platform or an Account, the metadata model itself or its governance data. You link the columns to each other through relations to filter, group and compare.

For: Member, Tenant administrator, Auditor, Platform administrator, Builder, Account administrator

What's on this screen

  • The lenses (the bar at the top): Explorer, Navigator, Sheet and Analysis are four ways of looking at the same records; the one you are in is marked. At the bar's right end: the tenant, when you belong to more than one, and what the world allows here (Read only, Import a sheet). While you are in a lens, the menu on the left keeps to its icons, so the records have the width; its button opens it over the screen for a moment. Switch with one record chosen and the next lens opens on it: Navigator's walk starts at it, Explorer opens it chosen, and Sheet and Analysis narrow theirs to it, said as a chip in the source row (× lifts it there only; Undo brings it back).
  • The source row (under the bar): the world and the scope you are reading, with the other worlds; then the expression bar and, at the row's right end, record search, View and × Clear.
  • Columns: each holds one Entity's records, shown as cards. The same Entity can be open in more than one column. Add column opens a new column.
  • Expression bar (marked Expression): where you type the filter expression. The expression is applied when you press Enter or Apply.
  • View (at the right end of the expression bar): the highlight scale (Per Column / Global) and the selection mode (OR / AND). While something is selected, × Clear sits beside it.
  • Status bar (one line at the foot): how many columns are open, the relation walk, while something is selected the highlight key, and the latest thing you did, with its History. The selected card is marked in the selection colour, cards related to it take the related colour, a colour of their own, stronger the closer they are.

Everything else the screen does is in The parts of this screen, below: each has help of its own.

Begin

Explorer opens by asking what you want to explore: choose the entities, then — for a large entity — which of its records. Open the usual columns skips the question. Click a record to select it and see what it is related to in the other columns; double-click it to narrow them to it.
