Cards, density and what a card shows
Each entity has its card; a column chooses how dense its cards are and which fields they show.
Cards
A column opens as cards. Each entity has its card: the icon in the column header shows which one, and hovering the icon says why (for example, an employee is read as a Person; an entity with no card of its own gets a layout chosen from its fields). Every card starts with a small code and then the record's name in at most two lines; a record with no name says Untitled record.
Density
Density: Expanded shows every part of the card, Normal its essentials, Compact two lines (code and name, and one value), Minimal one line (the name). Auto picks by how many records the column holds: up to 6 Expanded, up to 40 Normal, up to 200 Compact, more Minimal. The density is a column's own: set it in the column's menu under View. Apply to all columns there gives the same density to every other column.
Fields on the card
On the card (column menu, View) chooses the fields a card shows. The code and the name are always there. Each card has a limit (an invoice card shows up to 5 fields) and a fixed place for each kind of field: a status as its badge, an amount as its large figure, a percent as a bar, dates, people and places on its meta line. When a field cannot be added, the menu says why: the limit is reached, there is no place left for that kind of field, or it is long text, which is read in the record view. List and Table under View show the same records without cards.
