A note in place of Add record, Edit or Delete
Who can read and who can change records — and what the screen shows instead when you cannot.
Who can change records
Explorer is the first lens of Records, the menu's second area at every scope (at the platform and an account it reads the metadata model). In a tenant, reading its records needs record.read; anyone who holds it can use Explorer, open a record, see its relations and read its history; adding, correcting, deleting or restoring a record, or adding or unlinking a relation, needs record.write in this tenant. Without it, the column menu shows a note in place of Add record and Add relation, the column footer says so in place of + Add record, the record view shows a note in place of Edit, Delete and Unlink, and the server refuses the write as well.
Other reasons an action is not offered
| The screen says | Why |
|---|---|
| No Edit on a reference entity's record | Its records are fixed reference data. |
| No Delete or Restore | The record or the whole tenant is under a legal hold, or the record is of a system entity. |
| No Unlink | It would leave a record below its minimum number of links of that kind, or a legal hold applies. Where exactly one link must be kept, Replace is offered. |
| No Add record, Edit, Delete or Add relation in the metadata model or governance | Those worlds are read here and edited in their own screens. |
