Calculated fields
A field made of a formula over the Entity's number fields, worked out in every cell and every total.
Making one
Calculated field… (above the field list) makes a field out of a formula: a Name and a Formula over the Entity's number fields — + − × ÷, brackets, numbers, comparisons, and ABS, ROUND, MIN, MAX, IF, AND, OR, NOT.
- A field is written by its name (in quotes when it has a space), or put in from Insert a field.
- While the formula cannot be read, the reason stands in place of Add.
- The field then stands in the field list, marked ƒ calculated, and is ticked into Values like any other; it is not summarised by a function.
- The dialog lists the Formulas of the analysis: Change one, or Remove it — it leaves Values with it.
How it is worked out
- A field in a formula is its sum in the cell, and the formula is worked out in every cell and every total from that cell's own sums: a price in a total is the total's amount ÷ the total's quantity, not the average of the lines.
- Where a line and a column meet in no record, the formula is worked out on zeros, as Excel does: 0, or the error text.
- A division by zero shows the error text.
