I added someone to a team but they can't access anything
Team membership alone grants no permission. A team records who works together; permission comes from roles.
For: Tenant administrator, Member
What happened
You added a person to a team on the Teams screen. The person can't open the screens the team's other members can open and sees messages saying they don't have access.
Why it happens
A team gathers a tenant's own people into a named group. It says who works with whom but gives nobody a key. In inlorus, permission comes only from role assignments.
What inlorus does
- It keeps adding to a team separate from permission: adding someone to or removing them from a team doesn't change their tenant membership or roles.
- It says so plainly on the Teams screen: “Team membership alone grants no permission. Permission comes from roles and is given on the Roles screen.”
What you do
- Decide what the person needs to do.
- On the tenant's Roles screen, give the person the role that carries that job's keys.
- Ask the person to refresh the page and try again.
How to keep it from happening again
- When adding someone to a team, check that their role also fits that job.
