I tried to give a role and it said “not a member”
While giving someone a role or publishing rights, inlorus said they are not a member. A role is given only to someone who is already a member.
What happened
On the Roles screen you typed an email to give a role, and it said “This email is not a member of this tenant.” On the account People screen you may also see “This email is not a member of any tenant in this account.”
Why it happens
Membership and role are different things. Membership says a person is in this tenant; a role says what they can do there. inlorus first needs the person to be inside; the Roles screen doesn't make anyone a member. The same rule applies in the account: a role in the account is given to someone who is already a member of one of the account's tenants.
What inlorus does
- It refuses to give a role to someone who is not a member and states the reason.
- It leaves making someone a member to the Members screen; that job needs
membership.write.
What you do
- Add or invite the person by email from the tenant's Members screen.
- If you invited them, wait for the person to accept the invite.
- Once the person is a member, give the role again.
How to keep it from happening again
- When adding someone, pick their role on the Members screen too; the person then joins with their role.
