Create and publish a capability on the platform
In Capability Studio you open a capability's first version as a draft, declare its dependencies and publish it; the capability lands on the tenants' Capabilities screen.
Prerequisite
In the platform scope, capability.write for drafts and dependencies, and capability.publish for publishing. If you don't hold a key, the screen says so in place of the button or form.
Steps
- Switch to the platform with the scope switcher and open Capabilities under Build.
- In the New capability draft section, fill in the Key field. The key must be unique within the owning scope; the capability's canonical address is derived from it.
- Enter the Name and Category.
- In the Business purpose field, write which business outcome this capability makes possible.
- In the Version purpose field, write what this first version provides; add a Description if you like.
- Press Create draft. The capability joins the Defined capabilities list as
v1 draft. - If the version needs nothing else, press Declare no dependencies on its row; the row shows “dependencies declared”.
- Press Publish. The badge becomes
published.
Result
The published version can be picked in Solution Studio and appears on the tenants' Capabilities screen.
Keep in mind A version published without declaring its dependencies cannot be installed in a tenant; the install stops with NO_DEPENDENCY_SET. A draft version, on the other hand, is not visible to any tenant.
