Request and install a capability in a tenant

On the Capabilities screen you request a capability published by the platform or your account with Request install, and install it with Install.

For: Tenant administrator

Prerequisite

  • capability.read in the tenant to see the list.
  • scope.write in the tenant to request and install. Requesting, planning and installing are the same permission.

Steps

  1. Switch to the tenant with the scope switcher and open Capabilities under Settings.
  2. Press Request install next to the capability you want. The screen says the package is requested for this tenant, and the status becomes “Requested, not installed”.
  3. Press Install on the same row. An install plan is created and its steps run right away; when the screen returns it shows “Installed (run N)” and the status becomes “Installed”.
  4. Read each step's result in the Install steps section. A step the package has nothing for — no application runtime, no binding — shows as “skipped” with the reason written; this is not an error.

If something goes wrong

  • If the status becomes “Install failed”, the screen states which step failed and how many steps after it did not run because of it. Once you have fixed the cause, Install appears again.
  • If the status shows “Installing”, the install stopped halfway; the daily scheduled job continues it, and no new install can be started in the meantime.
  • A capability you don't see in the list is either not published yet or belongs to another account.
