The four states a screen can show
“Nothing here” can mean four different things: you don't have access, it isn't switched on, it doesn't apply in this scope, or a change is pending. inlorus tells you which.
For: Platform administrator, Builder, Account administrator, Tenant administrator, Operator, Auditor, Member
The four states
| On screen | What it means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| You don't have access to this surface | You don't hold this job's key in this scope. The screen states the key, the scope and who can grant the permission. | Ask the person named (tenant, account or platform admin) for a role that carries that key. |
| This capability is not switched on in this tenant | The thing exists but has not yet been opened or published in this tenant. | Follow the path to switch it on: the Capabilities screen in the tenant. |
| Not applicable in this scope | This job doesn't exist in this scope at all; it is not a permission problem. | Switch to the right scope. The menu already hides sections in this state. |
| A change is pending | A requested change has not completed yet. | Wait; both the current and the pending state are shown. |
Why each is stated separately
Showing all four with the same “empty” view would turn a permission problem into an error. That is why inlorus does not hide a screen that could be open to you: it shows the screen and states what is missing. A refusal is not a redirect either; you stay where you are.
On most screens the button for an action you don't have permission for is not drawn at all; instead, the screen shows a single note naming the missing key.
