The walk

With the keyboard

The arrows, Enter, Tab, typing to a row, and the keys that open a menu.

With the keyboard

  • Up and Down choose the row above and below, across the groups of a column. Home and End go to a column's first and last row.
  • Right moves into the next column without choosing anything there; Enter chooses the row you are on. Left returns to the row chosen in the column before.
  • The arrows stop at a row marked back and do not take it, since taking it closes the column you are in: press Enter to go back.
  • Tab goes through a column's own controls — its menu, its find box, its sort — and then to its rows, which are one stop, at the chosen row.
  • Typing among the rows moves to the first row whose name begins with what you typed. It chooses nothing: press Enter.
  • Shift+F10, or the menu key, opens the menu of the row you are on — the same menu a right-click opens. Escape closes a menu, and gives the screen back when Navigator fills it.
