Action & Application Runtime Designer

The screen where you design and publish Action definitions and the Application Runtime configuration of applications — for the active Tenant, or, at the platform, for the platform's own applications that a package carries.

For: Builder, Tenant administrator

Runtimes lens

  1. Create a Runtime for an Application that does not have one yet. If you wish, tie entry to the application to a permission key as well.
  2. Add a Workspace Slot to the draft version; for the Explorer type, enter the starting Entity keys and the add-column / add-relation settings.
  3. Choose the Default Workspace Slot and add Navigation Items if needed.
  4. Validate and publish the version with Publish. To change a published version, open a new draft version.

Where an action reaches

In the Actions lens, under each action, Where it reaches opens it on the right: its version and status, the records it runs on, what it does and the permission a person needs. Parameters lists what it asks for when it runs, with each one's data type and whether it is required. Where it is offered says where a person meets it: a record's Run an action…, on its entity's records, while its condition holds, to people who hold its permission, and whether they confirm first; a draft is offered nowhere until a version is published. Where it reaches lists the fields of its entity it sets — Open goes to the Entities lens on that field — and the workflow transitions whose effect runs it, your own steps too — Open goes to the Workflows lens with the transition beside it. When none of these exist it says it runs only when a person chooses it. In a tenant, an action of your own with the key of a platform action runs in its place, and the inspector says so.

Where a workspace reaches

In the Runtimes lens, under each workspace of a runtime, Where it reaches opens it on the right: its application and the runtime's version, its type (one declared but not yet opened by a person is said so) and how it opens — first, when the application opens on it; when a person chooses it; or not at all, when it is switched off. In the menu lists the navigation items that lead to it, a child under its parent. Where it reaches lists the entities it opens on — Explorer's starting columns, a dashboard's entities, or the one entity of a list, a form or a board — Open goes to the Entities lens on that entity; a flow board also opens its entity's workflow in the Workflows lens. A workspace that leaves the choice to the person (Navigator or Sheet with no entity, for instance) opens on no entity of its own, and it says so. With an entity carried, the lens shows only the runtimes with a workspace that opens on it; the runtime holding the workspace chosen opens by itself.
