The states of a capability's versions
What the page says about published and draft versions, and when the publish bar is there.
States
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| "This capability has no published version" | There is only a draft version. A draft isn't served; the page doesn't show the trees or the publish bar. |
| "Version N is published." | The served version is live and its contents do not change, so there is no publish bar. Start version N+1 opens the next version as a copy — every reference, the sample datasets with their rows, and the dependency declarations; anything that can no longer be carried is named. |
| "Version N+1 is a draft" | Change its contents below, then Publish: version N stays served until then. While a draft is open, no other version can be started. |
| No publish bar on a draft | You don't have the capability.publish permission; you can only read the page. |
Keep in mind For a capability that has only a draft, this page doesn't show the publish bar; you publish the draft from the Contents section or from the list in Capability Studio. Validate and Compare only clear the message on screen; they don't run a separate check.
